Businesses who deny citizens their rights to self defense

The thought for this type of action has been floating around in my, (and many others), mind for quite some time. Was on a forum in the Topix "Guns" section; "Do you really think "no guns allowed" signs work?" today. And a regular poster, ("Trin Tragula"), gave the following link: "Here in Northern Colorado, Rocky Mountain Gun Owners keeps a list on their web site for us to refer to, that seems pretty reliable." The page lists businesses who refuse We The People, who choose to carry arms, entrance into their establishments. As well as businesses that have seen the error of their [formerly tyrannical] ways, and now allow We The People to carry on their premises.

So, the point of this post is for readers to post businesses; Name, Address, City and State, of those who refuse to allow an armed citizen on their property. And spread the word to our fellow citizens to NOT frequent their establishments until they change their 'policy'. For nothing can change minds more quickly than potential loss of income.

Please feel free to post any business that you are aware of that denies We The People to be armed on their premises. This can be done by adding their Name, Address, City and State into a comment. Please also remember to post those that have retracted their former [tyrannical] stance, and now allow armed citizens on their premises. This is important, for it provides incentive to others to follow the example.

ALL "WalMart" locations across the United States.

Actually, e. david, the Wal*Marts in Minnesota are not posted. And not only are the not posted, but over the last 5 years I have shopped at a number of them in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul metro area carrying openly (a .45 in a shoulder holster is not subtle) and the only problem I've ever had is once when I bought ammo the clerk had to carry it out to the parking lot.

So Wal*Marts do not deny our self-defense rights.

Bruce,

While that may be true for a number of WalMarts in your area, I can assure you it isn't the case in many others. I've been in WalMarts in Arizona, Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, as well as other states. And, I've seen the gun with the red circle and stripe around it on every one that I can recall.

As noted in the body of the post, people are more than welcome to list the ones that DO allow carry....

I live in Tucson, Arizona, and I have not seen signs at any of the five or so Wal-Marts around town I have been to.

I close enough to shop at Wal Marts in Phoenix, Flagstaff and Show Low, Arizona. None of those nor Sam's Clubs in Phoenix or Flagstaff have a "no guns" sign. All Costco stores in Arizona do have "no guns" signs, that is why I am no longer a member.

I have not seen a Wall Mart in Colorado or Nebraska that has a no guns sign posted. I thought Wall Mart's policy was not to post in any state.

All Wal-Marts are posted. Ours has the sign to the left side of each entrance.

Add Craigs List and Ebay for not allowing sales of firearms and firearm-related items.

I'd better qualify the above. All Wal-Marts in NM are posted.

I was open carrying in Bozeman, Montana. The Costco store manager told me that I would not be allowed to carry in his store. He cited Costco corporate policy. After I created a stink in the local paper, the manager agreed to look the other way if I would just carry it concealed. Montana law allows CC without a permit as long as the firearm is not concealed by an article of clothing. Purses and packs are not included in the prohibition. So, I make a point of carrying in a fanny pack holster while in Costco.

I experienced no problems open carrying in Walmart (or concealed either...). The only other place I had a problem was in the Community Food Cooperative, which I no longer patronize.

If your DOCTOR is an "employee" (i.e. has a practice run by a hospital vs. private practice) then odds are that office is a "gun-free" zone. Some doctors are very anti-gun, but most are simply ignorant and apathetic (and you trust these people with your LIFE?) about public health and firearms.

Go to our website (www.dsgl.org) and to our "Favorite Links" page, and print out Kates' article from the legal journal "Guns and Public Health - epidemic of violence, or pandemic of propaganda?" - fold the 80+ page article (1/3 is journal citations and references) to the section titled "A Critique of Overt Mendacity" and leave THAT in your doctor's office waiting room.

Better yet, ask your doctor why he/she is not ACTIVELY opposing gun ctonrol, since it is extremely dangerous to the public safety and social stability of our nation. Ask them to read the Kates article and let you know what THEY think.

Otherwise, get a new doctor - anyone without the integrity to actively oppose gun control is not likely to have the integrity or objectivity to stand by you when it comes to giving you sound health advice, vs. what makes the insurance company or hospital they work for the most money.

I carry open everywhere I go here in Wyoming because of a political problem with our Sheriff, and only three places have asked me not to: A bar, a bank, and a very liberal female doctor's office.
While I've also done so in Police Departments, I don't go in the Courthouse armed.

As an afterthought, I might point out that Wyoming Libraries have a poster with a X on a revolver, stating a "Weapons, Drugs & Violence Free Site."
Nice, but twisted, associations in the minds of Liberals, eh?
I ignore it, and they ignore my open sidearm, though.
